Q: 04/20
Form. 04/21
65K dark fantasy, experimental format
“Thank you so much for querying BookEnds and for giving me the opportunity to review REDACTED. I did read your letter and am going to pass on looking at further material.
I'm sorry I don't have better news. I am lucky to have a full and active client list and for that reason, I've become very particular about taking on new clients. This is by no means a criticism of your work. It's quite possible you'll find someone else who feels differently. I encourage you to keep querying and even consider other BookEnds agents for your work.
I wish you all the best in your search for representation and thank you again for giving BookEnds the opportunity.”

(My personal comment: I don't know which type of agent I hate worse. The one who is slow to respond or the one that responds negatively so quickly that you know she gave the project no thought whatsoever. With the first, at least you have the illusion that they considered it, but with the second you know they just arbitrarily cleared their in-box. The downside is such a kneejerk rejection often means a NO for the entire agency. It turns out that is NOT true of BookEnds, where you are still free to submit to another of their agents. Still, frustrating, to say the least.)
