QT: Do you follow a writing routine or schedule?

Jessica K. Foster:
I try to do something every day regarding writing. Sometimes it is marketing, sometimes drafting, sometimes beta reading for others. I wouldn't classify it as any more strict than that, though.

QT: How many times did you re-write/edit your book?

Jessica K. Foster:
Oh, man. At least four full re-writes and a ton of editing--too many passes to even remember.

QT: Did you have beta readers for your book?

Jessica K. Foster:
Absolutely. Beta readers are essential.

QT: Did you outline your book, or do you write from the hip?

Jessica K. Foster:
I usually outline the premise and major conflict and then I let the writing surprise me in how it resolves. It keeps things fun and fresh. I know a lot of different techniques exist for this, however. My advice would be to do whatever works for you!

QT: About how many query letters did you send out for this book?

Jessica K. Foster:
I sent out about 20-30 query letters before finding my agent with this book. I was very lucky that the right person saw it early in my journey.
